(805):

I just got attacked by a swarm of butterflies. Nothing is okay anymore.

Caleb lifted an eyebrow from where he sat on his usual bench on the aerie, watching as Gabriel stomped around in circles nearby, fuming and cursing under his breath. The blonde was covered in some odd yellow-white liquid that clung to his duster and arms no matter how much he shook himself off and wiped with his palms.

"What happened to you?" the redhead called out in mild interest. Gabriel had been doing that ever since swooping onto the rooftop of the Archives at near full speed. "You all right?"

"I was just attacked by a swarm of butterflies! What do you think?!" Gabriel snapped back in frustration, shaking his hands to try flinging the liquid coating his gloves off.

"Butterflies? Seriously?" Caleb questioned dryly, then blinked as a massive butterfly in shades of green and gold swooped in from out of nowhere, very obviously alien in appearance, wrapped its arms and legs around the Angel of World's Ending and carried him off, the blonde shrieking in outrage as he kicked and struggled.

"Get off of me!"

"Ohhh~. Alien butterflies." Caleb remarked in dawning recognition, turning his head to watch the creature fly off with his brother, "No one reported them coming back to this part of the galaxy. Was this supposed to be a sneak attack?"

One of the many Heroes protecting the Earth appeared beside him from a Zeta tube, possibly intending to do just that; report on the threat that had arrived. "Holy Servant, the Marposans have returned to gather mates for their queen." the caped Hero told him in a severe and grim tone, "Countries all over the world are being depopulated of human males. The Justice League is being overwhelmed and...." He stopped, looking up as Caleb continued to watch Gabriel kick his way out of the butterfly alien's grip and turn on the creature viciously, yelling in a fury as the glint of his blades shone. Several more Marposans, the swarm he'd probably been screaming about, flew in and overran him, a veritable cloud of color trying desperately to recapture him.

"Isn't that the Divine GateKeeper?" the superhero asked in bemusement, pointing at the battle.

"My brother, yes." Caleb agreed, and lifted a cup of tea to his lips to sip at.

"The Marposans are attempting to abduct him as a potential mate for their queen."

"I'm aware of that, yes."

The Hero just stared at him. Caleb sipped again.

"Aren't you going to-?"

"I'm off the clock."

The Hero blinked and Caleb smiled sweetly at him. "The Justice League can use Derris-Kharlan's android armies to contain the situation and send word to the Marposan Queen that I don't approve of anyone coming to Earth to take my humans off-world." he remarked brightly, "Take a teleporter with you. If she refuses to listen to peaceful negotiations to return what she stole and leave the Sol System, I'll come up there personally and take care of the problem. But for now, I'm on break."

"Ah... as you say, Holy Servant." the Hero replied uncertainly, giving him a quick bow of respect before vanishing through another Zeta tube.

Nearby, Gabriel hit the aerie with his back and snarled, kicking out viciously as the butterflies crowded down after him, keeping him from getting up from the floor to make better use of his abilities. "A little help here?!" he yelled and Caleb sipped his tea again, watching the frenzy in front of him.

"What part of 'I'm off duty' does no one seem to get today?" the redhead sighed, shrugging his shoulders.
Sometimes, Caleb can just be a lazy ass jerk. Or maybe he's bored? I dunno, I just find it funny to think he can say 'I'm on break' and walk off the battlefield and literally no one can stop him from doing that.

Gabriel is screwed until he gets a chance to fire off a spell. In the mean time though, giant alien butterflies are going to be bothering him until he can. Meanwhile, Caleb gets a show for his break. A very funny show. I wonder just how many of them would try to take Gabriel.
